HI, I'M HAILLIE
I am a freelance writer and content creator in Phoenix, AZ, expected to graduate with a Master's of Mass Communication degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU in December 2020.
I earned my BA in film from ASU in 2015 and spent the following years as a stage performer and improv actor for the Walt Disney Company. While my passion for storytelling began with film, it expanded in all directions during my years with Disney, where I witnessed the powerful effect of narrative on guests from around the world, and ultimately, pulled me toward journalism.
As a writer I've traveled to one of the southernmost regions of Panama to report on the struggles of pregnant migrants on their way to the United States, walked through the red rocks with psychics in Sedona and spent seven months investigating the juvenile justice system with News21 — all in pursuit of stories about everyday people, rooted in emotion and human connection.
I also enjoy a diligent yoga practice, learning new songs on my ukulele, and will never turn down an oat milk latte.

Past. Present. Future.
Loretta Jones crafts Christmas decorations throughout the year in preparation for an annual weekend event where she expects to sell every item she's made. Profit from previous fairs and a knack for repurposing unexpected items into holiday tchotchkes makes the investment for next years' crafts possible for Jones, who has now found a full-time hobby in crafting. Even in the sweltering heat of Phoenix where summer temperatures approach 120 degrees and Christmases are anything but white, Jones keeps the joy alive all year long.
